Ripping apart an envelope.

Mono, close-mic recording of a roll of gaff tape slowly being peeled back. Microphone settings: akg 414, hypercardioid pattern, no high-pass filter to maximize proximity effect.

Tapping large water bottles (metal) against a leg to hear them make melodic sounds. You can hear the slosh of the water inside and the resonant tone. Noise reduction and amplification were applied to this sound using reaper.

A self generated cue for a musical. I ha imagined a kite in flight, subsequently caught and destroyed by a nearby tree. I used a stock wood crack, and source files from robinhood76 and aust_paul, plus effects. Completed in pro tools 10.

In cabin. Train wheels grinding the rails, odd wind howling makes a melody. Water bottles stored under the cabin seats make soft sounds. Recorded with tascam dr-40. I've only used the internet to facilitate human contacts. Being with actual people in actual places has always been the goal. I like it when, in the presence of real people, we don't speak for a while. We just do something that we've agreed to do together in silence. There is an agreement and we don't have to think about who we are, how we can be who we are or what it all means. Doing becomes meaning.

Sea in pastena with waves, quite calm sea.

Subtle and general external atmosphere.

Here's some ambience i recorded in 2021 when i went to surf side beach, texas for a weekend vacation with family. This was recorded from the decking of the house we were staying in. The beach was probably around 50 yards away from us, give or take a few feet. The ambience was recorded with the sennheiser ambeo smart headset (no longer made) connected to an apple iphone 8 with an app called backpack studio acting as the actual recorder.

Pacific ocean at la push, washington (usa). Shielded from wind by large driftwood log. Recorded with a pair of rode nt1 mics connected to a sound devices 702 recorder.
